Fat Loss Measurement -How is Loss of Fat Best Measured?Author: Lubano Lim
How is Loss of Fat Best Measured? Well, with the advancement of
technology, there are now many good ways to measure fat loss.
Some of the methods are so accurate that they can measure
whether your left thumb has more fats than your right thumb.
(Ok, just exaggerating) Unfortunately, these methods are usually
too expensive to be accessible to normal people.
If you want to do it yourself, you may want to consider buying a
digital fat caliper or a skinfold caliper. A point to take note
when using a skinfold caliper is that it may not be very
accurate. In fact, the accuracy depends on the person using it.
However, you should not be too concern about the accuracy as
what is more important here is consistency. What you really want
is to be able to track your own progress in fat loss especially
if you are on a fat loss program. This will reveal to you
whether the fat loss program is working for you.
The next option to consider is to get an expert to measure for
you. The advantage is that it is definitely more accurate than
doing it yourself. Perhaps, this service may be available in
your local gyms. The price is usually quite affordable. Probably
$10 to $20 per reading.
Do not rely on weighing scales as they only show you weight
loss, which may not be equivalent to fat loss. Typically, it is
not unusual for people to lose more weight in the beginning but
the "weight" that are loss may not be equivalent to "fat loss".
So how is loss of fat best measured? In my opinion, if you do
not mind spending some money, it is best to get an expert to do
the measurement as it is more accurate. The second best option
is to buy a digital fat caliper or a skinfold caliper.
